Tin Plating
Electrodeposited tin coatings for solderability, corrosion protection, and anti-galling applications in aerospace and defense. Qualified to MIL-DTL-10757.
Tin plating is widely used in aerospace and defense electronics for its excellent solderability, corrosion resistance, and non-toxicity. Tin deposits maintain solderability over extended storage periods, making tin-plated components reliable for wave soldering and hand soldering operations in avionics and electronic assemblies.
Beyond electronics, tin plating is used as an anti-galling coating on threaded fasteners and mating surfaces where seizure is a concern. The soft, ductile nature of tin allows it to deform under contact pressure, preventing metal-to-metal galling and reducing torque on assembly.
Electron Plating III processes tin plating to MIL-DTL-10757. We offer both bright and matte tin deposits. Matte tin is generally preferred for aerospace applications as it is less susceptible to tin whisker growth — a concern with bright tin deposits in high-reliability electronics.
