Anodizing for Aluminum Alloys
Type I, II, and III hard anodic coatings for aluminum components requiring corrosion protection, wear resistance, or electrical insulation. Qualified to MIL-PRF-8625, MIL-A-8625, and AMS specifications. Tank capacity: 12 feet.
Anodizing is an electrochemical process that converts the surface of aluminum into a durable aluminum oxide layer. Unlike paint or plating, the anodic coating is integral to the base metal — it cannot peel or flake. The result is a hard, corrosion-resistant surface that can also serve as an excellent base for adhesives, sealants, and paint.
Electron Plating III performs Type I (chromic acid), Type II (sulfuric acid), and Type III (hard anodize) processes. Class 1 (clear/undyed) and Class 2 (dyed) finishes are available. Type II is the most common general-purpose coating, providing good corrosion resistance and a decorative finish. Type III hard anodize produces a much thicker, harder coating suited for wear-critical applications such as hydraulic components, gears, and sliding surfaces.
All anodizing is performed to applicable military and AMS specifications. Our processing tanks accommodate parts up to 12 feet in length. We offer clear (undyed) and dyed finishes, and can apply PTFE (Teflon) impregnation after anodizing to further reduce friction and improve corrosion resistance in demanding environments.
